MyMenu IQ

Maggi launches unique online nutritional scoring tool

DUBAI, July 26, 2021

Maggi has launched MyMenu IQ, a unique online nutritional scoring tool that evaluates and measures the nutritional balance of diverse recipes on the Maggi Arabia website. It will help individuals and families cook healthier and tastier dishes at home; and choose food and meal combinations that support a healthier, more balanced diet.

“We’re very pleased to be launching MyMenu IQ, which aims to help people who love to cook choose better food combinations and enjoy recipes that integrate the goodness of Maggi and fresh ingredients for great tasting, balanced, and healthier meals,” said Jessy Abdulnour, Nestlé Business Executive Officer, Middle East & North Africa.

Maggi is committed to helping people Cook the Difference through healthier solutions and recipes. This is being done through various initiatives, including MyMenu IQ and the brand’s Kitchen Cupboard journey which it launched back in 2014 to ensure its products solely include familiar and natural ingredients that people know and love, and that are free of artificial colours, flavours, or added preservatives.

“We’re creating recipes that include a variety of food groups while limiting some nutrients to allow people to choose healthier food combinations that are not only delicious but also nutritious,” said Sarah Kanaan, Nestlé Head of Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Middle East & North Africa. “People will also be advised on how to add more balanced complementary dishes if the main dish is a bit low on scoring; and alerted should a dish best be altered or replaced.”

Maggi initiatives are part of Nestlé efforts towards achieving a number of nutrition commitments published by the company in the region, which include to “Simplify our ingredients list,” “Help reduce the risk of under-nutrition through micronutrient fortification,” further “Reduce salt, sugar, and saturated fats in our products,” and “Increase vegetables, fibre-rich grains, pulses, nuts and seeds in our products.”

MyMenu IQ specifically helps meet Nestlé’s commitment to apply and explain nutrition information on packs, at point-of-sale and online.

MyMenu IQ is a scientifically validated nutritional service that measures the nutritional balance of a meal on a scale of zero to 100, with a higher score indicating more nutritional balance to achieve optimal nutritive benefits as recommended for an adult based on a 2,000-kcal daily diet. The objective is to reach a score of at least 70, based on a calculation of carbohydrates, proteins and fat content, to ensure optimal nourishment from various food groups.

The brand is also adding a broad range of ancient grains, legumes and vegetables to all its new offerings, in line with Maggi’s 15 Trends Inspiring Tomorrow’s Food, published on its website in 2019. The trends are inspired by public demand for more Authenticity which is bringing back ingredients such as grains recognised for their high protein and fibre attributes, among others; emphasis on Nutrition for Health is driving recipes to include more nutritious alternatives, such as sunflower or olive oil; and a desire for Taste Experiences is infusing products with more spice varieties from cuisines around the world.

MyMenu IQ has so far been launched across 13 websites around the world.-- TradeArabia News Service
