Azerbaijan wins top sustainability award

BAKU, February 7, 2023

The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) has received the '2022 Sustainability Awards – Cultural Protection & Inheritance' from Voyage Magazine China.

The award recognizes Azerbaijan's commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism practices.

Azerbaijan is home to a diverse range of cultural and historical sites, including UNESCO protected ancient sites, beautiful landmarks, and iconic architecture. The country has made significant investments in preserving these sites and promoting them to visitors, in order to both honour its past and create a thriving tourism industry.

"We are incredibly proud to have received this award from Voyage Magazine," said the CEO of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board Florian Sengstschmid. "For us sustainable tourism development starts with putting destination’s tangible and intangible assets, as well as its people in the heart of the tourism promotion. Preserving our cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism practices are important priorities for us, and we are committed to continuing our efforts in these areas."

The 2022 Sustainability Awards by Voyage Magazine is a highly sought-after accolade, and biggest online travel event in China.

At the moment, citizens of more than 100 countries, including Chinese citizens can travel to Azerbaijan with a valid Covid vaccination certificate. To enter the country, Chinese citizens need to apply for an e-VISA at least three days before the planned arrival date to Azerbaijan. – TradeArabia News Service
