New Murabba, a company of Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF, has announced that it has awarded the design contract to UK-based Arup, a global advisory, design, planning and engineering company, for the iconic 45,000-seat stadium being developed as part of the World Cup 2034 preparations.
The 'smart, sustainable and bold' infrastructure landmark is being built within the mega $50 billion New Murabba development.
An ambitious project for the kingdom, the New Murabba project aims to transform 19 sq km of north-west Riyadh, creating 18 new neighbourhoods.
Arup's scope of work encompasses design, advisory, and planning, as well as operational advisory insights and optimisation, to ensure the stadium seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices, reflecting New Murabba's vision for a future-ready, world-class destination.
"This stadium is not just a venue. It’s a destination in itself and a key part of our downtown vision," said
Michael Dyke, the CEO of New Murabba Development Company after signing the agreement with Jerome Frost, CEO of Arup Group.
It will be the catalyst that ignites New Murabba's vibrant entertainment scene, establishing this destination as a global hub for sports and leisure in Riyadh, stated Dyke.
"With Arup’s global experience in iconic sports venues, we’re shaping a future-ready hub that will welcome the world to Riyadh just in time for FIFA2034," he added.
The New Murabba Stadium is scheduled for completion in 2032, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
