Suppliers must issue consignment certificates from Oct 1: SASO

The project management office at the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced that, effective October 1, all suppliers will be required to issue a "consignment certificate" as a mandatory prerequisite for submitting any customs declaration on imported goods.

SASO clarified that the new requirement applies to all imported products, whether they are subject to technical regulations or not. The consignment certificate can be issued electronically through the Saber platform at saber.sa, said a Saudi Press Agency report.

It also urged suppliers and customs agencies to carry out early verification procedures, coordinate with accredited conformity assessment bodies, and ensure the preparation of conformity documents or self-declarations through Saber platform prior to shipment.
