Bahrain's Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) has announced the launch of its advanced research vessel - Al Mesaha 2050 - featuring AI-supported technologies to monitor and protect the marine environment as well as enhance the safety of navigation routes.
The Al Mesaha 2050 vessel was last night (September 7) inaugurated by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
A hitech vessel, Al Mesaha 2050 boasts technical systems and advanced capabilities, including the latest depth measurement technologies, geophysical surveying equipment, advanced laboratories for seabed analysis and sand sediment monitoring.
The vessel is equipped with 3D survey systems, high-precision positioning devices, tidal and current measurement technologies, and integrated AI applications for real-time data analysis and decision support, reported BNA.
This marks a key milestone in SLRB's national strategy, which aims to develop a reliable national data system to support strategic decision-making and serve economic development programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah expressed pride in the achievements of the development and modernisation process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of the government led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He affirmed that Bahrain’s security and stability constitute a cornerstone for attracting investment and advancing sustainable development objectives in line with the Government Programme.
The Interior Minister highlighted that the launch of Al Mesaha 2050 reflects the adoption of the latest systems and AI-supported technologies to monitor and protect the marine environment, enhance the safety of navigation routes, and support sustainable development.
Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah emphasised that Bahrain provides a safe and attractive environment for both local and foreign investments, supported by stable and flexible legislation, while developing mechanisms that sustain the national economy through the preservation of natural resources, strengthening marine reserves, and implementing programmes that ensure a secure maritime environment, said the BNA report.
Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamer, President of SLRB, said that under the leadership of HM the King and with the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain continues to implement sustainable development and infrastructure projects that reinforce the Kingdom’s comprehensive development across all sectors.
The inauguration of the vessel represents a milestone in the qualitative transformation of the bureau by developing a trusted national data system that supports strategic decision-making, serves economic development programmes, and aligns with the objectives of the Government Programme 2023 – 2026 and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, he added.
