iGA facilitates access to ID card, birth certificate services via app

To enhance the accessibility to its eServices for citizens and residents, and to ensure seamless transactions, the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has provided the ID card & Birth Certificate eServices through its unified "MyGov" app in its first phase.

This app was recently launched by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology.

Duaa Sultan Mohammed, Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registry at the iGA, emphasised that the availability of these highly utilized services in the app is a strategic move aimed at reinforcing digital transformation and facilitating easy access to government services for citizens and residents in Bahrain via a unified digital platform.

She pointed out that the ID card services provided in the first phase of the "MyGov" app include issuing and renewing ID cards, issuing replacement cards for lost and damaged IDs, and tracking ID card application status. These are some of the most used services with an annual average that exceeds 700,000 transactions, both in-person and online.

Having these services, for the first time, through a unified app, will help users to access them more easily and complete their transactions seamlessly.

Additionally, the app allows users to view their birth certificates, and the ID cards of their children under 18, as well as ID cards for domestic workers.

Duaa Sultan said iGA will continue expanding the range of services available on the MyGov app in future phases in efforts to enhancing the ID card system, making services more accessible while ensuring compliance with international best practices in customer service and user experience.

MyGov app is one of Bahrain’s innovative digital projects, providing citizens and residents with secure, unified access to a variety of government services, she stated.

The app is linked to the upgraded eKey 2.0 system, which features biometric authentication (face ID), enhancing security and user experience.

The first phase of the app includes 41 government services from nine different government entities. It also offers features such as displaying official documents like ID cards, passports, and birth certificates, government notifications, and more, she added.
