AIS to supply insulation for Ruya project offshore platforms

AIS,a leader in insulation and fire protection system,  has announced its involvement in the Ruya project (Al-Shaheen Phase 3 – Batch 1), a major offshore oilfield expansion led by Qatar's North Oil Company (NOC).

The project aims to boost output from Qatar's largest oilfield by developing new platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure to reach a production plateau of 300,000 barrels per day.

AIS was selected to protect offshore platforms and critical infrastructure components across the field, including the BJ platform, which will handle oil, gas, and utility processing from the BH platform.

The BJ platform will house a wide range of critical equipment, including dual-fuel turbo generators, gas turbo compressors, heaters, coolers, a triethylene glycol (TEG) regeneration package, phase separators, and export pumps.

Utilities such as an overhead crane, HVAC systems, and both open and closed drain systems are also incorporated into the design.

To meet the stringent thermal and structural performance demands of this offshore environment, AIS has been selected to supply its ContraFlame MS200 lightweight insulation panel system for the platform’s underdecks.

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) is building the BJ platform at their Ulsan yard in South Korea, with all AIS-supplied materials scheduled for delivery by May 2026.

A minimum of two AIS supervisors will oversee the installation process.

The selection of the ContraFlame MS200 system was based on weight savings, thermal insulation targets, and structural resilience.

With a design life of 25 years, the BJ platform requires materials and equipment that can withstand continuous operation in harsh marine and corrosive environments.

Additionally, it offers long-term advantages in terms of reliability and reduced maintenance. -OGN / TradeArabia News Service
