Following the success of the first Chronofixe vs. Astérix collaboration, the leading French watch brand Chronofixe has announced its latest creation, once again in partnership with Astérix and Seconde/Seconde/.

 

Founded in 1857, Chronofixe and was one of the few producers of the French military's Type 20 pilot chronographs. Revived in recent years, it is known for its historic Type 20 pilot's chronographs and more recently for its vintage-style skin diver watches.

 

On the new launch, Chronofixe said the special edition commemorates the 55th anniversary of Astérix in Switzerland while playfully blending the heritage of Swiss watchmaking with the beloved Gaulish hero.

 

Conceived by Romaric André, founder of the creative label Seconde/Seconde/, the watch reinterprets the aesthetics of the famous Swiss safes by Ferner. 

 

"Chronofixe x Seconde/Seconde/ unveils the new 'Astérix' Edition, paying tribute to the sixteenth comic book album, first published in 1970 - Astérix in Switzerland," said a spokesman for Chronofixe.

 

"The bidirectional bezel cleverly mimics a safe’s combination wheel, while the dial depicts Astérix in a whimsical pose: his right ear pressed against the dial, left hand turning the bezel — as if he were attempting to crack the code," he stated.

 

The crown, styled like a safe handle, reinforces the distinctive character of the piece. On the caseback, the engraving reads: 'As airtight as a Swiss vault' - a playful nod to Swiss banking secrecy, while guaranteeing water resistance.

 

Powered by a dependable Swiss movement, this watch embodies the perfect fusion of horological precision and the charm of comic-book storytelling. A limited edition, it continues Chronofixe’s tradition of blending humor with fine watchmaking, he noted.

 

The watch features a 37 mm round case crafted from 316L stainless steel, with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a bidirectional bezel. It measures 12.8 mm thick, with a 20 mm lug width and a 46 mm lug-to-lug span. Water resistance is rated at 20 ATM.

 

The matte black dial includes painted luminescent numerals and indexes, along with a date window at 3 o’clock. The metal hands are also luminescent. The timepiece comes fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, he added.

 

Available exclusively through Chronofixe website for a five-month window until December 26, 2025,. the model will retail for €740.-TradeArabia News Service
