Saudi Water Partnerships Company (SWPC), in collaboration with the projects advisory consultants, organised the pre-bid conference in Jeddah for its Arana and Hadda ISTP projects.

 

The conference included a site visit to both projects locations in Makkah. A large number of interested local and international companies attended the conference.

 

In the opening remarks, SWPC’s CEO, Engineer Khaled AlQureshi, lauded the successful experiences of collaboration with the private sector in developing vital infrastructure projects, including wastewater treatment projects. 

 

SWPC team later provided detailed presentations on the two projects and addressed the inquiries of company representatives.

 

The Arana ISTP will be developed with an initial capacity of 250,000 cu m per day, expandable to 500,000 cu m per day while Hadda ISTP will have an initial capacity of 100,000 cu m per day, expandable to 250,000 cu m per day. 

 

Both projects will enhance the wastewater treatment capacity serving Makkah city and holy sites, said SWPC in its statement. 

 

The projects also encompass treated sewage effluent (TSE) re-use systems, comprising a transmission pipeline and storage tanks to maximize treated sewage utilization, particularly for irrigation across the kingdom, it added.

 

The development will be undertaken in partnership with the private sector (PPP) under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) model. 

 

This will be implemented through 25-year Sewage Treatment Agreements from the dates of commercial operation, targeted for 2028 for both projects.

 

According to SWPC, the development of these two ISTP projects is aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy 2030 to enhance infrastructure and improve services through expanding sewage treatment capacities and promoting the utilization of treated sewage.-TradeArabia News Service
