Omrania names new landscape director for Middle East ops

Omrania, part of 10N - Egis Group’s global architecture collective, has appointed Jon Clokie as Director of Landscape Architecture.

This strategic leadership addition reinforces Omrania's commitment to delivering world-class landscape and public realm projects that generate significant value and long-term impact across the Middle East.

An industry veteran, he brings over 25 years of global experience, having contributed to the delivery of major projects such as Diriyah Gate, Red Sea Airport, King Abdulaziz International Airport, Yas Island Formula 1 circuit, and The Louvre Abu Dhabi.

He is known for combining technical rigor with aesthetic and sustainable design, ensuring landscapes enhance both environmental performance and social connectivity, said a statement from Omrania.

The landscape architecture practice at Omrania is a cornerstone of the firm’s integrated design approach, driving the delivery of large-scale urban, cultural, and infrastructure projects that prioritize sustainability, innovation, and design excellence.

Under Clokie’s leadership, the practice will advance its multidisciplinary, systems-based methodology, combining ecological sustainability, urban infrastructure, and cultural narratives to create resilient, context-sensitive public realms that contribute fundamentally to urban vitality, it stated.

On his new role, Clokie said: "Designing public landscapes at this scale and intensity demands more than visual creativity; it’s about shaping systems that endure. Omrania’s integrated design culture allows landscape architecture to operate at the heart of urban transformation."

"I’m excited to lead a team that not only designs spaces but helps define how cities evolve sustainably and dynamically," he stated.

Before joining Omrania, Clokie held senior leadership roles with leading architecture and engineering firms, where he gained extensive experience in stakeholder coordination and multidisciplinary team management.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Landscape Architecture from Greenwich University and is a member of the Landscape Institute.

Recent successes of Omrania’s landscape arm highlight its growing influence in the region, with complex urban parks, infrastructure-linked public spaces, and culturally significant sites where landscape architecture is integral to placemaking and environmental stewardship.

This focus aligns with the firm’s broader strategy to embed landscape architecture at the heart of multidisciplinary urban projects.

Today, Omrania is one of the largest landscape practices on the ground in Riyadh, with Jon’s team striving to shape how cities breathe, move, and grow.-TradeArabia News Service
