Arcapita, a global alternative investment firm headquartered in Bahrain, and DSV, a global logistics leader, have joined forces for the development of a 30,000-sq-m build-to-suit warehouse in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

The state-of-the-art facility, designed to meet the highest international standards, will feature advanced automation systems and focus on sustainability, said a statement from Arcapita.

“This project reflects the evolving needs of the logistics sector,” said Arcapita director of real estate investments Isa Al Khalifa.

“This warehouse underscores our commitment to providing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions for our clients,” said Chrys Mendonca, managing director of DSV Dubai.

The warehouse will support key industries like healthcare, consumer and retail, and technology.

Currently under development with advanced technical specifications, the project opens new avenues for collaboration between Arcapita and DSV with a focus on sustainability and innovation, said the statement.

According to Arcapita, the ware house project is designed as per the highest international standards based on sustainability and innovation.

This logistics hub represents the second phase of the strategic partnership between Arcapita and DSV based on strong collaboration and a shared vision for innovation in the logistics sector.

The hub is being built within the southern part of the DSV complex  in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, strengthening the group's presence  in Dubai, which is an important regional hub and a key player in global trade.

It includes advanced automation systems, and a certificate of energy efficiency according to the LEED system for leadership in energy and environmental design, as its construction works meet all environmental conservation requirements, with optimal specifications to support key sectors
including healthcare, consumer industries, retail, technology, automotive and industrial derivatives, with a capacity of seventy-five thousand pallets, it added.

An exclusive zone has been created to handling hazardous materials, such as lithium batteries, for example, in addition to a huge covered outdoor storage area.

In addition, the logistics center will provide specialised services with the utmost care while handling sensitive and high-value shipments, especially healthcare products and luxury goods, it stated.

Issa Al Khalifa, Director, Real Estate Investments at Arcapita, said: "This project is a response to the evolving needs of the logistics sector, and as one of the largest investors in industrial real estate in the GCC, we are proud to offer innovative facilities specifically designed to meet the growing and complex needs of global supply chains, while maintaining energy efficiency."

Chris Mendonca, Managing Director of DSV at Dubai, said this project embodies the company's commitment to providing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions to its customers.
