Serco launches its second graduate programme for Emiratis

DUBAI, July 15, 2021

Serco Middle East, a leading global provider of essential public services in key sectors such as the rail and transport, has announced the launch of its 2021 Graduate Programme, following the successful launch last year.
 
The award-winning annual programme, in its second year in the UAE, will provide a two-year training course for 3 selected graduates with a passion for business and support them to develop the skills required to become a future leader.
 
The programme is aimed at UAE national candidates who have recently graduated from university and hold  a degree related to Business Management, Engineering or has a passion for the business world and a commitment to making a difference to the lives of citizens in the region.
 
Serco has a strong Emiratisation agenda and supports governments and large corporations in the areas of citizen services, transport, healthcare, defence, justice and immigration in the region. The launch of this programme demonstrates Serco’s commitment to support local talent who are taking their first steps onto the career ladder.
 
The company, which prides itself on its ‘people first culture’, will be putting selected graduates at the forefront of the business and allowing them to contribute to meaningful and vital government and citizen services and solutions in line with government visions by providing the opportunity for them to make a difference every day. 
 
The graduates will be able to develop their capability to manage teams, build customer relationships, manage customers, solve complex problems and communicate effectively in a multinational environment. 
 
They will also have early exposure to senior managers who will coach and mentor them throughout their journey, setting them up for success and the opportunity to develop into future leaders in Serco and the UAE.
 
Commenting on the announcement of this year’s Graduate Programme, Hana Kharmeh, Human Resources Director at Serco Middle East and the head of the Graduate Programme said: “We’re proud to have the programme back for its second year and we look forward to onboarding more young talent from the UAE and supporting the next cohort of aspiring graduates. The programme is part of Serco’s vision in supporting aspiring regional talent as it seeks to create a globally competitive, future ready workforce. Graduates will be supported by their placement managers who are responsible for guiding their performance, helping them build critical relationships, facilitating opportunities to apply both learning and insights and nurturing their growth and development throughout the two years.
 
In 2020, Serco was awarded Skills Development Programme of the Year award at the Big Project Awards recognising the company’s investment in local talent and the successful launch of their inaugural graduate programme. In addition, Serco has also received an award granted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) to honour the pioneers of Emiratisation in the private sector. -- TradeArabia News Service
