Bahrain will host a GCC Committee meeting on the latest developments in unifying the classification and registration procedures of medical specialties in the region on September 30.

The GCC Committee focuses on researching the procedures for defining and registering health specializations in Gulf countries.

The meeting will be part of the Second Bahrain Health Regulatory Conference and Exhibition, held under the patronage of the Supreme Council of Health Chairman Lieutenant General Doctor Dr Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, from September 29 to October 1, 2022.

"Safe and high-quality healthcare services" is the theme of the Second Bahrain Health Regulatory Conference and Exhibition.

Key healthcare professionals from Bahrain, GCC states, and beyond will attend. It aims to bring together healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organizations, patient safety experts, and educators in medicine from around the world to share knowledge on implementing and managing health regulations.

Meanwhile the meeting will be attended by GCC States’ representatives, GCC Health Council representatives, and GCC Secretariat General representatives, said National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) CEO Dr Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma .

In addition to the specialization certificates recognized in every country, Dr. Al Jalahma explained that the meeting will also cover agreeing on the qualifications of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and related professions for Gulf and non-Gulf citizens, as well as methods of verifying the fundamental sources of qualifications of health practitioners. "This meeting is part of efforts to bring GCC citizens together regarding the classification and registration of medical specialities," said Dr Al Jalahma.

"This can be executed through the unification of the right standards for practice and development of health professions, the procedures for issuing registration cards and certificates of professional classification for all health practitioners."
 
"This is in addition to the sharing and assessing of training programs and rehabilitation of trainees," Dr Al Jalahma added.

A GCC decree established the GCC Committee to examine the classification and registration processes for health specialities in GCC member states. The GCC Committee's goals include coordinating classification and registration processes for health specialities, creating a joint Gulf guide, and exploring the potential for joint projects like establishing the Gulf Board for Health Specialties, exchanging knowledge and information in the field, among others. – TradeArabia News Service
