BOTH NATIONS PRAISED

Trump announces Israel - Iran ceasefire

WASHINGTON, 7 days ago

President Donald Trump announced today that the United States has successfully brokered a phased ceasefire between Israel and Iran, aimed at ending nearly two weeks of intense hostilities that have threatened to engulf the region.

The announcement came just hours after Iran launched a missile attack on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — a move that escalated tensions but, according to Trump, paved the way for diplomacy.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “A complete and total ceasefire will begin within hours and is intended to last forever. Both nations have shown tremendous stamina, courage, and intelligence.”

Sources familiar with the negotiations confirmed that Qatar played a crucial role in mediating between the US, Israel and Iran.

Iranian Strike on Qatar Base
On June 23, Iran fired a barrage of ballistic missiles at Al Udeid, the largest American military base in the Middle East. US and Qatari officials reported that air defense systems intercepted most of the missiles, with one reportedly striking inside the perimeter but causing no casualties or major damage.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility, calling the attack a response to recent US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. However, President Trump revealed that Iran had provided advance warning of the strike, which helped minimise risks. “They signaled this in advance — a sign that Iran is ready for de-escalation,” Trump said.

Fragile Ceasefire
The ceasefire plan, according to Trump, involves phased pauses in hostilities: Iran was expected to suspend attacks first for 12 hours, followed by Israel. However, reports from Israel indicated that missile attacks from Iran continued into the morning, including strikes near Tel Aviv and Beersheba, raising doubts about the ceasefire’s immediate viability.

Israel has not officially confirmed the ceasefire, and military operations reportedly continued, with Israeli airstrikes hitting targets in Tehran, including Evin Prison and suspected nuclear-related facilities.

Global Response
The international community welcomed the ceasefire move. Oil prices fell sharply on hopes of stability in the Strait of Hormuz, and U. stock futures rose.
