iGA launches ID card renewal service for Bahrainis abroad

MANAMA, 5 days ago

Bahrain's Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has announced the launch of issuing and renewing of ID cards eServices as well as ID card replacements for its citizens outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Under this scheme, citizens, or their first-degree relatives, can submit their applications through the national portal (bahrain.bh) for renewal and replacement of ID cards for citizens outside the kingdom.

The issued ID will be delivered through Aramex courier service to the specified address outside Bahrain, or it can be collected by the authorized individual from the Identity Card service center in Isa Town if within Bahrain, said iGA in its statement.

This eService aims to provide an easy and accessible digital service for Bahraini citizens abroad to meet their needs related to ID cards, it added.

Announcing this, Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registry Duaa Sultan Mohammed said this eService was part of the iGA’s ongoing efforts to enhance and develop government services, improving their quality and expanding options for citizens to complete their transactions from anywhere.

The launch of this new service, she stated reflected the directives of General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT), in adopting advanced technologies in enhancing government services, particularly ID card services.

She also noted that providing these services to citizens abroad reflects the iGA's commitment to simplifying and facilitating procedures for citizens outside the Kingdom.

Sultan pointed out that the new services have been designed to ensure ease of use, flexibility in processing transactions, and full security measures to verify the accuracy of the submitted data.

"We are committed to continually improving quality services and achieving citizen satisfaction through the innovative digital solutions that meet their needs and help simplify their daily lives," she stated.

Additionally, she noted that this service contributes to enhancing Bahrain’s leading position in digital transformation in the region.

These new eServices, available as part of the ID card service package, are aimed at saving time and effort for users, as citizens can submit multiple requests within the same process, explained Sultan.

All ready-cards will be delivered via Aramex for those abroad, or authorized individuals can collect them in person from the Identity Card service center in Isa Town, she added.

According to her, the ID card services have showcased improvements in the process of updating residential addresses for Bahraini children aged 21 and above in the case of divorce.

The address holder can now approve the address change request electronically through the " Update ID Card Residential Address" eService, she stated.

"Additionally, a new feature has been introduced within the upgraded identity card, allowing individuals who wish to register for organ donation to print the organ donation icon on their ID card according to their preference," said Sultan.

"Furthermore, additional information has been added to the identity card certificate, including the passport issuance date, the cardholder’s signature, and the status of the identity card," she added.-TradeArabia News Service
