The two-day summit kicked off on May 16 at the Gulf Convention Centre – Gulf Hotel Bahrain, under the patronage of Wael Bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture.

Diyar Al Muharraq's sponsorship of this event follows the government's directives aimed at encouraging the establishment of sustainable projects and initiatives for smart cities. Furthermore, it reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance sustainability in the Kingdom.

On the second day of the summit, Engineer Abdulla Helal, Infrastructure Projects Manager at Diyar Al Muharraq, took part in a panel session and spoke at length on the topic of decarbonizing the work environment through adopting sustainable energy solutions.

Commenting on the summit, CEO Engineer Ahmed Ali Alammadi, said: "We are delighted to support such a prominent local event. This stems from our belief in social responsibility as we look to the future of Bahrain. We are also proud of Helal for representing Diyar Al Muharraq as a speaker during a vital panel session during which the decarbonization of the work environment was debated."

The company intends to continue investing in sustainable living while contributing to the Kingdom's sustainable development goals, he noted.

"Through our sponsorship of the summit, we aspire to spread awareness of sustainability and illuminate the importance of introducing innovative initiatives related to building and launching smart cities, based on environment-friendly energy solutions, and combining the efforts of various entities in order to achieve prescribed goals," he added.

The Bahrain Smart Cities Summit is the first discussion platform of its kind to take place at a local level and is organized in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (representing the UN headquarters in Bahrain), in addition to a number of strategic partners and sponsors from the public and private sector.-TradeArabia News Service
