Bahraini Talal first diplomat from GCC to become YDL President

Counsellor Al Absi was elected the President during elections held by the Young Diplomats in London (YDL) to form its new executive team, reported BNA.
The YDL was established in 2008 to enhance ties between young members of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to the UK by organising cultural and social events, promoting understanding between peoples, and helping new diplomats integrate into the UK political, social and cultural scene.
Bahrain’s assumption of the presidency reflects the active engagement of its diplomats in both official and informal events in London, as well as the confidence entrusted to them by diplomats from allied and partner states, said the BNA report.
Al Absi thanked Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Bahrain to the UK, for his support, and also expressed appreciation to young Arab members of the YDL.
