Nissan leverages GT-R- to deliver thrilling performance in Patrol

DUBAI, November 18, 2024

Catering to the Middle East’s affinity for high-performance vehicles, Nissan has announced the arrival of the all-new Patrol with a potent 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 that builds on the brand’s renowned GT-R engineering expertise.

With the most powerful production engine produced by Nissan to date, the all-new Patrol sets new benchmarks for power, capability, and refinement, further cementing its class-leading performance across the toughest terrains in the Middle East.

Designed for drivers who demand peak performance, the all-new 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine produces an impressive 425 horsepower and 700Nm of torque – representing a 7% increase in power and a 25% boost in torque, all while enhancing fuel efficiency by 24% over the outgoing model. Leveraging aviation-grade materials and segment-first technology, the Patrol ensures sustained performance in extreme conditions, with optimised air and fuel flow contributing to reduced environmental impact.

Scavenger oil pump
Built to excel in the region’s challenging terrain, the seventh-generation Patrol is the only SUV in its class to feature a "scavenger" oil pump, which enhances lubrication during high g-force driving conditions. Originally used in the GT-R to maintain high power in tight corners, this unique oil pump has been adapted for the Patrol to assist when climbing steep dunes across the Middle East.

Thierry Sabbagh, Divisional Vice President, President - Middle East, KSA, CIS – Nissan, INFINITI, said: "The all-new Nissan Patrol builds on its rich legacy while embracing innovation to be more powerful, more capable, and more efficient than its predecessors. By incorporating the knowledge of our Takumi craftsmen, we have created an SUV that not only meets the demands of our customers in the region but sets a new benchmark in SUV performance across the Middle East."

To further enhance the driving experience in the all-new Patrol, Nissan’s engineers have relied on decades of expertise and paid careful attention to the construction of the engine and its related components. The turbine wheels of the turbo have been crafted from Mar-M; a special nickel-based superalloy commonly used in aviation applications. This high-strength alloy enables the turbochargers to withstand extreme temperatures, ensuring sustained performance in the harshest of conditions.

As part of Nissan’s commitment to delivering performance with reduced environmental impact, the all-new Patrol also optimises air and fuel flow with increased fuel pressure (35 MPa compared to 15 MPa in the outgoing V8) and longer piston strokes (100.2 mm compared to 92 mm). A new electric intake valve timing system further contributes to improved throttle response and overall driving feel.

Twin-turbocharged V6 engine
The powerful twin-turbocharged V6 engine is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission, which offers drivers greater control with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Drivers can further personalise their experience with a selection of six distinct driving modes: Standard, Sand, Rock, Mud, Eco, and Sport.

Highlighting its rugged capability, the all-new Patrol also introduces a 4WD transfer mode interlock system, a first for Nissan. This system automatically chooses the optimal driving mode from the six available options – making driving across varying terrains an effortless process.

From high-speed highways to demanding desert dunes, Nissan’s engineers have ensured that the all-new Patrol delivers peak performance on all terrains. The all-new Nissan Patrol, which is available with a choice of two engine options including a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6, is now available for sale through Nissan’s partner network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Middle East region.--TradeArabia News Service
