BNET picks industry veteran for top finance job

DUBAI, May 21, 2022

Bahrain Network (BNET), the national telecommunications infrastructure company, has announced the appointment of Donna Williams as the group's new chief financial officer (CFO). 
 
The appointment comes as part of BNET’s efforts to secure the most competent market talent to drive the company’s existing and future strategies towards sector excellence.
 
Formerly a part of Bahrain’s Telecommunication Company (Batelco), BNET got separated and was launched in October 2019, becoming the sole developer for fiber infrastructure in Bahrain. 
 
The company’s launch was key to the implementation of the 4th National Telecommunication Plan (NTP4 2016), which prioritised country-wide access to affordable, reliable and secure ultra-fast Fiber broadband services. 
 
Lauding the appointment, CEO Ahmed Jaber Aldoseri said: "This falls in line with our commitment to hire specialised talents that add value to the company and enhance our performance in order to achieve BNET’s strategic goals."
 
"BNET aims, through its people, to continue on its trajectory of growth, and works towards realizing its goals by implementing strategies to elevate the telecom sector in Bahrain. BNET remains dedicated to achieving the Kingdom’s vision for the future of the telecommunications sector," he added. 
 
Williams is an experienced chartered accountant with over nineteen years of experience in financial control, business partnering and cash flow management. 
 
Prior to joining BNET, Williams held several distinguished positions including as the Group Financial Controller at British Telecom (BT). 
 
On her new role,Williams said: "It gives me great pleasure to be joining BNET, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to BNET’s exceptional board of directors and management team for their confidence. I look forward to working closely with the team to achieve financial growth and contribute to BNET’s vision."
 
The kingdom’s national broadband network, BNET is responsible for the design, construction and operation of fiber infrastructure.
 
Its launch marked a new era for telecommunications in in Bahrain, preparing the country for a digital future with first class infrastructure and enhancing its position as a regional hub for information technologies.-TradeArabia News Service
