Gulf Air mulls buying 20 Boeing jets; including 12 Dreamliners

Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air is looking at buying up to 20 additional aircraft as the airline looks to expand its fleet and replace aging jets, reported Bloomberg citing people familiar with the plan.

A major player in the regional aviation sector, The Gulf Air may purchase 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in a firm order with an option to buy more, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private negotiations.

The split between firm and optional purchases as well as the timing of the deal remain fluid, they stated.

An official announcement on the order could come later in the day, coinciding with Bahrain Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s scheduled meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington DC.
