Ooredoo launches Platform 51 on board Kuwait Airways flights

Ooredoo Kuwait, through its subsidiary FASTtelco, has announced the launch of Phase Two of its collaboration with Kuwait Airways through the activation of Platform 51 - a digital initiative from the Ministry of Information- on the national carrier’s in-flight entertainment system.

This comes as part of a strategic partnership aimed at elevating Kuwait’s digital, cultural, and media presence both regionally and globally,

This move builds on the initial agreement signed between FASTtelco and Kuwait Airways, which laid the foundation for Platform 51’s presence on board flights, said Ooredoo in a statement.

The initiative aims to introduce global travelers to Kuwaiti culture and heritage through engaging, diverse, and high-quality digital content that reflects the nation’s values and identity.

From vision to execution

The first phase focused on defining mechanisms for integrating Kuwaiti content into the in-flight experience, highlighting the country’s vibrant media landscape through locally produced documentaries, programs, and cultural features.

The second phase launches just in time for the summer travel season, enabling Platform 51 to reach a wider global audience.

Under this deal, travellers on Kuwait Airways can now enjoy a curated digital library of social, cultural, artistic, and documentary programming, including iconic archival works and newly produced content by young Kuwaiti talents - creating a unique, immersive entertainment experience that blends tradition with innovation.

Driving digital transformation

Commenting on the collaboration, Nouf Al Mashaan, Senior Director External Affairs and Head of Strategic and Innovative Business Projects at Ooredoo Kuwait, said: "The swift execution of this partnership reflects the shared commitment of Ooredoo and Kuwait Airways to championing national identity."

"It stands as a model of successful public-private cooperation aimed at reshaping the local digital landscape and showcasing Kuwaiti content to the world," she noted.

"Through this initiative, Platform 51 continues to establish itself as a national hub for youth creativity—empowering local talents and delivering professional media experiences. This project is a testament to our ability to blend technology with content to create a successful, Kuwait-born model that can inspire the region," she said.

Al Mashaan praised the Ministry of Information’s support of the platform and reaffirmed Ooredoo’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation in alignment with Kuwait Vision 2035, particularly in the creative economy and youth empowerment sectors.

She emphasized that Ooredoo Kuwait’s strategy is rooted in impactful partnerships with the public sector—leveraging advanced technologies to support government projects and align them with national development objectives.

The collaboration with Kuwait Airways, backed by the Ministry of Information, is a prime example of innovative, youth-led initiatives that align with the country’s sustainable development agenda, said the senior official.

"This is just the beginning. Ooredoo is working on an ambitious pipeline of transformative projects that go beyond traditional telecom services - driving progress and serving both national and citizen interests," he added.

Cultural and tourism impact

The integration of Platform 51 into Kuwait Airways’ in-flight system brings Kuwaiti content into the skies—offering a powerful, creative medium to engage international travelers and promote cultural exchange. It strengthens Kuwait’s image as a culturally rich destination and supports both inbound and outbound tourism efforts.
