Dates expo to showcase yields from 29,000 farms in Madinah

The 14-day Madinah Dates Season exhibition 2024 is showcasing yields from over 29,000 farms in Madinah region, highlighting their role in bolstering food security strategies in Saudi Arabia. It will also feature dialogues and workshops, a report said.
The exhibition that started on October 3, has been organised by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in collaboration with the National Center for Palms and Dates and the Madinah Chamber of Commerce, Saudi Press Agency, SPA, said.
The exhibition being held next to the Quba Mosque aims to showcase local agricultural production and date palm processing industries.
The expo is presenting a special section where farmers can experience virtual reality harvesting to promote environmental and agricultural awareness.
It also features more than 50 sales outlets, a tasting and cooking section, and handicrafts.
Public and private entities are exhibiting agricultural initiatives, financing opportunities, and logistical services for potential regional investors at the event, which will see the participation of families working in cottage industries.
